Silver Begins Big Upside Rally Attempt

The move we saw in Silver early this week to new 6-year high price levels, above $22.60, is quite likely the biggest upside move in Silver since the bottom in March 2020 – after the US stock market collapsed because of the COVID-19 virus event. This new rally in Silver is likely the move we’ve been suggesting to our followers relating to a series of measured upside price moves totaling approximately $5.30 in each advance.

As traders, watching bonds accelerate moderately higher as the US Dollar falls and the stock market attempts new lofty levels, we are intrigued by the move in metals because it suggests a large segment of investors believe a bubble is nearing very peak valuation levels. The only reason metals, particularly Silver, would be accelerating as it has recently is that traders have suddenly adopted a stronger demand for second-stage hedging of risk.

Gold is the traditional hedge for many traders in times of risk. Silver, being the second-tier hedge, typically start to rally 4 to 6+ months after Gold begins to move substantially higher. Gold is currently trading near all-time highs – near $1820. Silver just recently bottomed in March 2020 near $11.65 and has rallied more than 70% to current levels – above $20.35. If our research is correct, Silver will rally to levels above $26 within this current upside rally.

The multiple measured moves in Gold and Silver suggest waves of price advances happen in a series of structured upside price moves. We believe this current upside move in Silver will push price levels above $26 per ounce. If Gold continues to rally as Silver rallies, then future measured moves should target $31.50 and $36.75 in Silver – possibly higher. Continue reading "Silver Begins Big Upside Rally Attempt"

Silver Is A Game Changer

Last month I shared with you “Three Options To Go” for silver price, namely “Optimistic”, “Pessimistic” and the sideways option called “Extended consolidation” on one chart. Below are your bets for each option.

Silver

Most of you chose the “Optimistic” option where silver should continue to the upside after completing the correction. It’s a rare case when the minority was right as the “Pessimistic” scenario played out the next week after the post. The metal’s price dropped into the abyss at $11.64, reaching the 11-year low in the price area of distant January 2009. I think this move surprised not only me, although I said that it could reach $11 area, but even those who clicked the right answer as it was so quick as price sank within a few weeks from $16.66 for 30%!!!

Silver just can’t stop surprising us as it suddenly changes from latency mode to explosion mode and back, again and again.

The interesting thing happened next Continue reading "Silver Is A Game Changer"

Crude Oil Futures

Crude oil futures in the April contract settled last Friday in New York at 35.92 while currently trading at 38.90 a barrel up around $3 for the trading week continuing its bullish momentum as prices have now hit a 9 week high. Crude is trading above its 20 day but right at its 100 day moving average as the trend is still relatively mixed in my opinion as the commodity markets in general have all bottomed out as volatility certainly has come back into the currency market pushing the commodity markets like a yo-yo in recent weeks. Gold Futures

The monthly unemployment report came out at this morning stating that we added 203, 000 new jobs which was construed very bullish sending the stock market higher and gold lower due to the fact of tapering possibly happening as soon as March as the unemployment rate is now 7.0% as traders see no reasonable to own gold as the economy here in the United States and around the world are improving dramatically sending the S&P right near record highs once again today and selling off gold by $4 at 1,228 currently here on the night session this Friday afternoon in New York. Gold is trading below its 20 & 100 day moving average continuing its bearish trend hitting a 5 month low with major support at 1,210 which was hit twice this week and rebounded but it looks to me that we almost certainly have to retest 1,180 which was last summer’s low.
