The Horizons Medical Marijuana Life Sciences ETF (HMMJ) will begin trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange today, April 5th 2017. This will be the first ETF that will have exposure to companies listed in North America that operate in the medical marijuana bioengineering and production fields.

Many investors have been interested in the industry for a number of years, but haven't had the opportunity to invest in it through a diversified manner. This ETF solves that big hurdle.

While it is unknown how many stocks the fund will hold, or who exactly will be in it, investors can be assured this ETF boasts some very serious growth predictions. This Is The Best Time To Invest In Cannabis Stocks

If you are the kind of person who loves getting a great deal, the cannabis sector is calling your name.

Cannabis stocks are officially on sale.

This blast of weakness has been driven by two things.

There are still lingering concerns over US drug policy after some questionable comments on cannabis enforcement from White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer.

I think these concerns are overblown - read my full analysis - but none the less, it has definitely been a lingering concern and weighed on cannabis stocks.

Canada also recently spooked cannabis stocks a bit.

Canada's cannabis czar said the country won't rush legalizing recreational cannabis in order to make sure it is done properly.

This may look like bad news on the surface. For shareholders, it's never fun watching a stock you own do anything but go up. For potential shareholders, it can be intimidating to buy a stock that has been falling.

Cannabis legalization isn't just happening in the U.S and Canada. It's happening all across the world. It seems like every month or so a new country joins the party.

For example, In early 2016 Colombia's Congress voted to legalize cannabis for medical and scientific purposes.

Trump Admin Nothing For Cannabis Industry To Fear

The cannabis industry is more sensitive to political news than other industries. With cannabis still in the early stages of global legalization – when politicians make formal or informal comments about the industry – cannabis stocks respond.

That’s what we saw this weekend.

Last Thursday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked about the conflict between state and federal cannabis laws.

The cannabis industry has been eagerly awaiting word on how the Trump administration will handle cannabis. Whatever Spicer said was going to be closely analyzed.

He started by drawing a clear line between medical and recreational cannabis – saying the Feds aren’t even legally allowed to go after medical because of a spending rider approved by congress in 2014 and 2015 that prohibits the use of federal funds to go after state medical cannabis.
