Weekly Gold Report (Sept 30th through October 4th)

In the upcoming week, global markets have much to look forward to. In the United States, we will hear from multiple FED Members including Ben Bernanke and will also have to deal with the potential for a government shutdown in Washington. If that were not enough, Friday will bring the Non-Farm Payroll numbers that traders always look forward to. In Europe, the ECB will report their Interest Rate Decisions and we will also hear from the ECB President in a press conference that follows. Grain Futures--- The grain market settled mixed this week in Chicago as traders are anticipating a major report on September 30th which is this Monday at 11 o’clock central time showing where carryover levels currently stand and the last several reports  have been big price movers as carryovers fluctuate tremendously with soybeans finishing up $.03 this Friday afternoon settling at 13.20 basically unchanged for the trading week with the carryover level estimated at 125 million bushels consolidating this week after a $.70 hair cut in last week’s trade. Deflation Will Take the Majority by Surprise

The last thing on the minds of most people is deflation. It's easy enough to determine that with a quick quiz -- and that quiz is found in the just-published Elliott Wave Theorist.

In this July-August Theorist, Robert Prechter uses Google searches to make a point about deflation:

"When I typed 'Inflation for 2013,' there were 47,700 results. On March 13th, when I put this slide together, I also typed in "Deflation for 2013." How many results do you think I got?"

Prechter reveals that the answer is 5. (You could have googled it yourself, but we don't want you to have to take the time.) He then goes on to search other phrases pertaining to deflation and inflation, which you can learn more about via a risk-free read of the Theorist.
