What's Up With Apple?

Since April, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has lost over $113 billion in share value and is now only up about 3 or 4% for the year.

What is going on in the world's most heavily-held stock?

There are some things in life that cannot be explained. People trying to explain the fall in Apple will present logical reasons why, but the reality is, the market's expectations and perceptions often trump common sense.

Reality check: Apple is still a huge company and still making boat loads of money with over $200 billion in cash sitting offshore. Apple is not going to go out of business anytime soon.

Apple's cash cow is the iPhone. Sales growth, while good, is slowing down as the market becomes saturated. The last big market Apple has to conquer is China and that market is getting to be very competitive. Continue reading "What's Up With Apple?"

Hello Europe, Life Goes On

"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on."

How true that quote is! It comes from prize winning Pulitzer poet, Robert Frost.

I think the same can be said about markets and countries: they go on.

This morning, there is hope that something can be hammered out with Greece before the week is out. I am not sure how many weeks we have been looking for a resolution to this European drama, I've just lost count. It is time for the Greeks to make a deal and for life to go on.

Time To Check Out The Internet Portfolio

Hello MarketClub members and traders everywhere. I thought today I would take a look at the Internet portfolio to see exactly how it is positioned in the following Internet stocks. This particular portfolio has shown returns of 65% in 2013, the first year we began tracking this portfolio, to a return of 16.4% last year.
