Excellent post Andy....I've experienced the same.
Follow on to Jabalong & Jeremy's comments about Alerts for new trade triangles vs. new high/low on existing trade triangles. I saw the same problem, so I have implemented an e-mail message filter that stores every Daily/Weekly/Monthly Scan Alert trade triangle e-mail, and a script which extracts and compares the reported Green/Red vs. the last reported value (which I maintain in historical trade triangle files). Any change is reported to me via a separate "New Trade Triangle" daily e-mail report for the symbols tracked in my portfolios.
After doing this for the last several weeks, I've compared the "New" daily/weekly/monthly trade triangles reported via my script vs. those that I see when I pull up the same chart for that symbol. Unfortunately, I find that almost every day, there are trade triangles being triggered as shown on the charts that are NOT being reported. In other words, when I see a trade triangle on a chart and I don't see it in my "New" trade triangle report for that day, I go back and search my saved "Scan Alert" e-mails for that symbol and date and I find none (i.e. no e-mail alert was ever received reflecting that change in trade triangle color). And no, I'm not losing e-mails or dropping them via Spam filter, etc. I have 35 years of programming experience, so I'm not a novice at this. 😉
Here's a sample of some of the trade triangles currently reflected on the charts for which I never received any Scan Alert e-mail:
Date Symbol Interval Color
----- -------- -------- -----
01/26 PACF_SHV Daily Green
PACF_KOL Daily Green
PACF_SLX Weekly Green
PACF_EWS Daily Green
PACF_ECH Daily Green
PACF_IYF Daily Green
PACF_XLU Daily Red
01/27 PACF_FXI Daily Green
PACF_HAO Daily Green
PACF_GXC Daily Green
01/28 PACF_PGJ Daily Green
PACF_GXC Daily Red
PACF_EFA Daily Red
PACF_EWA Daily Red
PACF_EWY Daily Red
PACF_RSX Daily Red
02/01 PACF_EWY Daily Green
NOTE: This is just a small sample. I can give you lots more examples of trade triangle changes that were never reported via e-mail alert, most of them Daily but occasionally also Weekly (haven't noticed any missing Monthly yet).
PS - Also have the same problem with not being able to use new Portfolio Manager behind our corporate proxy server.
Hi Adam, do you have an update on when this issue will be resolved?
Thanks,
Steve
Steve,
Not sure exactly what issue you are having. Please email
je****@in*.com
and he can bring you up to date and solve any challenges you may be having.
All the best,
Adam
Chen, I agree there are problems accessing the portfolio data in firewalled corporate environments and your reason is mostly correct but I don't agree with the solution you proposed.
In our environment, the browsers are configured to use a proxy server, therefore all internet traffic should be sent to that proxy server and the proxy server talks to the internet. The problem is that as soon as the Flash wrapper for INO content is loaded, and it attempts to initiate a connection to api.ino.com (66.150.127.201), the flash wrapper doesn't pay attention to the browser's settings and use the defined proxy, instead, it attempts to connect to 66.150.127.201 directly and the firewall does its job and drops the packet.
If anyone at Market Club wants to see the packet trace, I'd be happy to share.
Steve
Steve,
This from out IT department.
"Having a fall-back streaming option for restricted network users is top priority for us alongside the performance upgrades. We are implementing a solution now to be able to cooperate with a security proxy."
Thanks,
Adam
Several suggestions have been made since the introduction of the changes, so as not to repeat same or add to the frustration involved with the ongoing changes... could you announce when YOU feel the changes are complete? I've been keeping a list and so far none have changed.
Lee,
We have taken note of the suggestions and keep a running list of improvements that out members are looking for. The Portfolio Manager is the first stepping stone along the path to add these other features such as Real-time, Triangles in the Portfolio, New Alerts and so on. As soon as we have an idea on a specific launch for each we'll be sure to let our members know.
Thanks to you and our members for your patience as we strive to make MarketClub better.

Wonderful changes. Most welcome and extremely useful to have different portfolios.
I would join with the voices suggesting columns for Trade Triangles, flashing for recent changes, which would make it a whole lot easier to follow a large number of stocks.
I would also agree that the Alerts are confusing and not particularly useful in their current form. I do not care to be told whenever there is a new high or low, only when a Trade Triangle changes. I would hope that a change to such effect is in the works.
Repeated and echoed request that trade triangles are presented in portfolio and easier to understand alerts. Would be a most excellent addtion...
I also think some historical means of reviewing the scoring would be helpful as knowing how you get to (for example) +65 would be much differnt if it occurs from +100 or from -100. Maybe this could be a chart option as well?
Hello Adam - many congratulations the new portfolio manager functionality is great. I've always hoped that something like this would be avaialable. Only problem is this doesn't currently seem to work on iPad which doesn't allow the required Adobe Flash at present.
Now that I can look at individual portfolios - and because I'm not restricted to IRA accounts I would now like to look at monitoring suitable short EFTs for the Perfect Portolio - could you please indicate the optimal ones to look at for SPY/GLD/FXE/USO?
Thanks again - and all the very best,
Derek
Derek,
Thank you for your feedback and your kind words about the new portfolio manager.
We have done some research into some of the inverse ETF's and to be truthful and not a real big fan of them at the moment. It is also possible to short the ETF that you are discussing. You will have to contact your broker and there maybe a minimum amount of stock you have to short.
Thank you once again and all the best.
Adam
FYI, in the meantime, I deleted my original portfolio, so that I could just select the "entire portfolio" alert option off my newly created portfolio.
However, the original portfolio kept reappearing each time I logged back in. So had to manually delete it entry by entry (which was very tedious) and shift my new portfolio items into the original portfolio, which solved that problem.
Seems like you have some bugs to iron out with the portfolio manager and how it integrates with other parts of the website like the alerts. Let's call it a beta version I hope.
Frankly, what's missing is the understanding by MarketClub that users want to be alerted to changes in triangles, not new highs and lows which is something else.
The trade triangles are surely the key attraction for new users, yet whether it's on muddied alerts or there omission here from the new portfolio manager, MarketClub keeps mishandling them.
Just make it easier for users to know when triangles change, that's what people have been asking for again and again, going back to discussions on these blogs well over a year ago.
Jabalong,
We do have a fix in the works for the Trade Triangle Alerts to make them easier to understand for our users. There will also be an update to mesh the alerts system with the new multiple portfolio set-up.
Best,
Jeremy

I like that everyone else is happy, but am finding it awkward for reasons formerly listed plus this: I can't move it with my trackball! Anyway, I do love that the site is constantly striving and I hope everyone's comments can be incorporated!
How do you delete a symbol from your portfolio in the new portfolio manager? When I click edit portfolio it does not show the previous "portfolio editor" scroll box that has the delete symbol option below it.
too slow to change charts now, don't want to have to go back to portfolio to change charts, need drop down to jump between charts --- i'm sure you heard this before but i think "don't fix what ain't broke" comes to mind here
Cannot view existing Portfolio or add new Portfolio in my company Intranet environment. My company blocks that specific port (port 5364 used by ino.com) for streaming data to the portfolios and charts. Any idea when Market Club is going to use the regular port (80)?
Hi I want to thank the team for the this improvement to the portfolio manager. It was one of the reasons I did not subscribe last year as it was a major lacking technology.
I have to echo the previous request for the TRADE Triangles to be shown on the portfolio manager.
Here is a question to all blog readers who maybe know how this works. I find the alert notification confusing.
What I expect to get when I set an alert for the weekly or monthly trade triangle alert is to be alerted when the triangle changes from red to green or green to red. Instead I seem to get an alert every time there is a new high or low within regardless of change. In fact I scanned through all of my notices and I cannot see any notification that includes a change of direction even when I see it on the chart! Am i missing something?
T,
Let's see if I can clear up some confusion about the email alerts within MarketClub.
I believe what's missing is the understanding of the relationship between the alerts, the Chart analysis Score, and the Trade Triangles on the charting.
By setting your alerts to once a day you are going to receive one of two alerts.
1. To alert you of a new Trade Triangle
2. To alert you of new highs/lows off of existing Trade Triangles that are tied into the Chart Analysis Scores.
The Trade Triangle system will not place two Trade Triangles of the same color on the chart at the same time. IE, if you have a green weekly Trade Triangle and a new signal point is reached it will not place another green Trade Triangle on the chart. It will send the alert for a "new high" and the date will be noted in the "Chart Analysis Score" as a new weekly high on xyz. This function keeps you aware of the current trend.
When a trend reversal happens the system will send an alert you of a new Trade Triangle being issued.
Best,
Jeremy
It looks like you haven't updated the Alerts function to match the new Portfolio manager.
If I want to set up an alert for a specific portfolio, how do I do this?
At the moment, the only option seems to be "entire portfolio", which is now out of date if users have multiple portfolios to choose from.
Please advise.
Jabalong,
I have passed this along to our IT Department for consideration.
Best,
Jeremy
Like everyone else has said, please add the triangles to the portfolio view - this is what's lured most people to MarketClub after all.
Multiple portfolios is good, but how do I copy an item from one to another. Right now all I seem to be able to do is drag it, which cuts and pastes it.
I just subscribed to your service. I agree with Andrew's post regarding the access to charts.
Why can't the chart page have a place where one can enter stock symbols. It's annoying to have to reload the home page to look for another chart.
How do you use the filter feature for the portfolios?
Why does the sort by score keep constantly moving even when the market is closed ? It's almost impossible to read it changes so fast.
Flo,
We are currently working on the sortable columns.
As for the filter, you can use it to narrow down symbols within each of your Portfolio's for a quick look by exchange only or name. IE, you look at symbols only found on the NYSE.
Best,
Jeremy
OK, found another quirk. I was in Portfolio and moved the columns to customize. Closed out... came back in... back to your default setting... *&^%$#@!
Lee,
We are presently working on a fix for this. Stay tuned!
Thanks for your patience.
Best,
Jeremy
I've been "playing around" with the new system and so far pretty good. I miss the drop-down but understand the logic behind not having it. We either have ALL in one portfolio with a drop-down (click) to select each (click), OR, we go to the "X" top-right (click) to go back to the portfolio and make another selection (click). Either way its still 2-clicks, no harm no foul. By creating additional portfolios we add 2-more clicks... six of one half a dozen of another. MC gives the option to the user. The scroll works fine with my Mac (I tossed my PC along with my 8-Track player and floor-mounted car phone). When I do scroll the "current price" (white text/black background) arrow stays fixed, it doesn't move with the scrolling... is that by design? I'm sure with more use will come more quirks but all-in-all working well.
Adam/Jeremy,
Switching to Firefox solved the problem of the missing scroll bars.
Thanks
Dale,
Great news! Glad we could that fixed for you.
Cheers,
Jeremy
I really like the improvements to the realtime tracking of my portfolio. This has greatly enhanced your services. I just do not understand why there is not a column where you place a Buy -hold -sell statement where the recommendation is a short term look at the stocks potential like the audio statements etc. are on the charts. Its not breaking any rules you know.... Very impressed. Nice work and I am sure to continue to enjoy your service. John
Since we're talking improvement here, the ability to add and delete columns in the portfolio section would be nice. You could choose what you want to have (add weekly and monthly triangles if desired, delete daily triangles and opening price if you choose). There may be other column additions that could be beneficial. Adding critical data (not available now) rather than just positioning the current choices would be hugely beneficial.
Not being able to select the next thing I want to chart directly from the chart dropdown anymore is an utter deal-breaker. Having to wait endlessly while my (original) portfolio reloads on some other page so I can select something is intolerable. I shouldn't have to use paper and pencil to remember what I wanted to do now that it takes minutes to get done what used to take seconds -- which count for an active trader. The value of this system is less than half what it was before the weekend to me, so far.
Who thought (ignorantly) that substituting a dropdown selector with two arrows that force you to go through a large portfolio out of desired order and one at a time was a good idea? It wasn't in case you need a clue. What if I need to just flip back and forth between two things, since this service doesn't allow me to plot them both on the same page, or even the same chart, as nearly all the others do - TD Ameritrade (free with account) Google (free period).
Some of this could be it's not rendering right in FireFox...
But the over a minute wait to get a chart has to be on your end...
Looks nice, but what happened to be able to change charts directly without going back to portfolio editor.
Before, while in a chart, you could enter a new symbol and go to a new chart, with the same settings.
Losing that makes it incredibly cumbersome to go back through menus simply to put in a symbol.
You guys must have missed something!!!!!
Correction Adam,
I cannot scroll up and down on my Apple using the arrow keys, again only for MC charts. I can do so only using the cursor and indicator on the right side.
Thanks
Thanks Adam. Still unable to scroll up and down with MC charts, but only on my PC lap top. My Apple is fine. As mentioned, other charting services are fine on the PC (?).
Cheers
Yes, I'd like to see the trade triangles added to the porfolio listing so I can see them all at once, and not have to chart analyze each stock separately. Would be nice if they had the numbers too, like the box on a chart does. Perhaps allow adding or removing columns in the portfolio view?
Couple things missing from the new charting analysis:
- scroll bar so you can actually see the below chart studies!
- the header that used to have S&P, Gold, DX etc plus a box to enter a symbol. Having to go to Data Central each time you want a new chart (i.e. adding an extra step) is a pain.
Thanks
Lesley,
You will still need to keep MarketClub open in another tab/window to search for individual charts and scans.
We haven't removed the symbol search box located in the upper right of MarketClub. If you cannot see this or the scroll bars on the charting please try Firefox VS Internet Explorer. See link below.

1) If I go into my portfolio from the WELCOME screen and open one of the charts it doesn't allow me to scroll up or down through the chart. Using this method I can open many charts at once by right-clicking the chart button and selecting Open in New Tab.
2) If I select the new Portfolio TAB and open a chart the up/down scroll bar is there. The trouble with this method is it assumes I only want to see one chart at a time whereas I like to open multiple charts by right-clicking and selecting Open in New Tab. I can't do this from the Portfolio TAB. I know I can scroll through the charts in my portfolio but there doesn't seem to be anyway to 'jump' to a partcilar chart by code.
3) Charts opened in the new CHARTING tab do not have the up/down scroll bar.
How can I open multiple charts that have the up/down scroll bar? I don't want to the Portfolio TAB multiple times as I live in a third world country and internet access is too slow.
Please re-instate the up/down scroll bar on Charts when they are selected from outside the Portfolio Tab, e.g from the WELCOME screen or the CHARTING tab.
Great improvement, makes tracking different strategies and "watch list" positions easier to track.
ECHO...ECHO...And I echo everyone's comment on listing the trade triangles on same table instead of having to go to the chart.....I think I made this suggestion when I first became a member last year. I'm sure your IT guys are sharp enough to deliver on this quickly 🙂
Any chance to get the same projected triangle feature in the model portfolios for all positions in our own portfolios?
And, one last question. Do you routinely validate your algorithms to improve on accuracy and reduce the late signals that occur?
Thanks again for the upgrades!!
New and Improved.. It looks good and works great.
I could create my portfolio for my watchlist.
I think it will be good if your 3 portfolio Global Strategy, Perfect R and Worldcup portfolio show up as a default in the new portfolio list.
Thanks..
Looks good. Some problems though: 1) The size of the charts does not allow me to slide them up and down on my PC (my big Apple G5 is still ok). It's not the computer, though, as other charting services still work fine on the PC. In other words, I am unable to view the Below-Chart studies because the charts have been re-sized in some way that the sliding tab disappears off the right side of the page and can't be reached by my cursor. 2)As someone mentioned above, the default settings on my charts are not staying set. When I re-log into MC, I keep getting "Volume" as a Below-Chart study rather than the ones I've saved.
Thanks
Dale,
I am pretty sure our IT dept is working on that right now. I have taken the liberty of passing along your comment to them as a reminder.
Thanks for your input.
All the best,
Adam
charts working now thanks Adam
Futures Q: For Futures contracts, how does one 1) "View All Contracts" 2) view the "Fundamentals" i.e. Size, Final Notice, Expiration Date, etc.. The handy-dandy buttons along the top of the futures contract price charts are missing... All else working well.
Lee,
Thanks,
I have passed along your comments to our IT dept.
All the best,
Adam
Lee,
The 1) “View All Contracts” 2) view the “Fundamentals” i.e. Size, Final Notice, Expiration Date, etc.. are now located on the Chart Analysis Score page. If you Chart Analyze your portfolio or a symbol you will see it there.
Best,
Jeremy
charts not working at all
Gregg,
All is working on our end. Try restarting your computer and opening up MarketClub again. That should do it.
Al the best,
Adam
Tremendously improved. I have been waiting for this for many months. I previouslyy had a mixture of four portfolios on one page. Congratulations. Looking forward to a few tweaks as mentioned above.
I am very much in agreement with these suggestion.
Adam,
Please comment on the trade tiangles for UGA. I want to buy and you sy buy but look at the one month triangles and you will see my dilema, thanks.
Tim
T Delahunt,
Thank you for your feedback.
The Trade Triangles for UGA are +100 a which indicates a strong upward trend. Not sure I understand your question. It would look like the longer-term trend remains positive.
All the best,
Adam
Adam and Dave, thanks for this. Looks to be working well and is a great and needed addition. I wish I could say I have been waiting patiently for this, but patience is the wrong word. However, as I sometimes have to supervise a recalcitrant bunch of financial developers myself, I know getting a new application done is like mating elephants. You know, it's only accomplished after a great deal of screaming and roaring and it takes eighteen months to get results. 🙂 So, I'm really glad you are done with this, it really looks good.
To pile on, I will repeat my request for trade triangle flags in the table data; it would make my Excel-built backtests a lot easier. However, a backtester based on the three trade triangles would be even better.
Thanks again, guys.
Hello team, :-))
Just watched the video on the new charting system ... AMAZING !!!! Great job.... Very simple to use ... In trading, time is of the essence so am sure to drop and drag much faster.
Thanks for such a great job.

Dittos on the "3-Triangle" Column
Just updated my portfolios and the improvements are great. It's beneficial to review the smaller portfolios of stocks of similar sectors, indexes or accounts than as a larger, single group.
I'd like to echo the sentiments already posted in the comment section. Having the three buy/sell arrow indicators posted on the portfolio page would be a HUGE improvement.
Well done, Adam and Co. at MarketClub!
The new portfolio is a much-needed improvement to the site and has been very well accomplished.
Great upgrade!
Michael,
GREAT, GREAT suggestion. This would be extremely beneficial for the reason you sight.
In portfolio view we should see all 3 triangles in a column not just scores.
I would show all three 'monthly-weekly-daily' triangles and like you say, if it changed in the last 3 days then they flash. This should also be carried over to the email notices one receives. Right now the SmartScan Portfolio Alerts
it a hodge-podge of info all mixed together. Seeing the 3 triangles is a much clearer view and would greatly reduce the time it takes to go thru all ones portfolios.
Tom
Change........... is good. The Nat Gas chart is missing the: OPEN - HIGH - CLOSE prices. Check the MACD, the Red Signal Line number is given next to the gray Divergence box; the Divergence histogram number is given next to the red Signal box...
Adam
Many thanks and good effort by your IT team. I need a quick link to Options prices - how can that bw done from the new set-up.
Keep it coming
Colin
Doesn't seem like my " below the chart studies " are staying. Each time I go into one of my stocks/etfs, it defualts to the " volume " indicator and I don't even have that checked off. I use the RSI, MACD and Slow Schotastics indicators. Those show in the pull down, but only the volume indicator shows in the graphic.
Let me know.
Thank you,
Steve
I fully agree with Michael Lane's suggestions. If or when you have installed those indicators, MarketClub would be way ahead of Worden, VectorVest and other finacial advisory services. Actually, is there a way I could contact Mr. Lane to discuss with him how best to utilize the monthly triangles? Anyway, I am very pleased with the new Portfolio Manager.
Jean Rene
Congratulations Adam! A huge step forward. A win for all, for you and for your subscribers. A big "Thank you!" to you and your programmers.
Jean Rene
Changes are good. Here is an additional suggestion. In the portfolio manager add a column that depicts the current triangle of the position and if with in 3 day or the current trading signal the signal should be flashing. This brings to the attention of the user any immediate actions that need to be taken. I find that while watching many stocks it is very easy to miss a daily/weekly/monthly signal. Also as you have in the market club global and other portfolios the next level that will trigger a trade or exit is also two columns. I would add those two columns as well next to the flashing triangle column. Make the entry in green and the next exit position in red. Now the trader really has a comprehensive portfolio view. With the triangles flashing, and the entry and exit levels right there all together.
Bounce that off the staff and other members I am sure they will find it incredibly useful.
Michael Lane
Michael,
Thank you for your feedback.
I have passed along your information and ideas to our IT team

Adam,
When I create a new portfolio it names it by default "Portfolio #1". I cannot find any way to rename it to something more meaningful.
Thanks.
Hi Eugene,
All you need to do to rename a new portfolio in the new manager is to double click on the name. It should then be highlighted and you can rename it.
Best,
Susan

Adam
I have my portfolio working with charts, it looks and works great. Thanks
Hi Adam,
This looks great, and I'm sure it will be really useful. One thing I noticed though is that in order to chart a market, it seems as though that market must be in your portfolio, since there is no place to simply enter a ticker if you want to look at a new chart (like there was under the old "charting" tab. Or am I missing something?
Thanks!
Andrew,
Thank you for your feedback.
The easiest way to enter a ticker symbol is to click on the top left hand corner where it says MarketClub and that will take you back to your homepage. Here you can simply enter a symbol and chart it in the way that you are used to. You can also create a watchlist in your portfolio and enter a symbol on the bottom of the page by simply clicking on the add symbol button. That symbol can now be charted by either clicking on the icon cart button on the right of the page or double clicking on the symbol itself.
Let us know if you have any more questions or need more help.
Thank you for your positive feedback.
Adam
