Hello traders everywhere! Adam Hewison here, co-founder of MarketClub with your mid-day market update for Monday, the 6th of August.
Now we have chairman Ben Bernanke, the same "Helicopter Ben", quoting the Himalayan Happiness Index. Is it just me, or does this sound crazy to anyone else?
If that was not enough, Italian Prime Minister Monti in an article published in Der Spiegel magazine says the Eurozone is facing "psychological dissolution". What the heck does that mean?
I have to give Monti and Bernanke credit, that is the first time I've heard a Fed Chairman citing the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan Gross National Happiness Index and a politician using the phrase "psychological dissolution" in a sentence or anywhere else for that matter.
No matter what they say, the second half of the year should provide a silver lining for traders everywhere.
Now, let's analyze the major markets and stocks on the move using MarketClub's Trade Triangle Technology.

The Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan Gross National Happiness Index you refer to is real. It is a measure of quality of satisfaction with life, not mere quantity of possessions (as is usually the measure of happiness in the West). Money sure can help to facilitate enjoying life more, but for happiness is not dependent on money, and it can be a real hindrance if one becomes obsessed with getting more of it beyond one's real needs. Witness Europe where the happiness ratings are relatively lower than many poor countries. In countries where money is regularly devalued by inflation (most western countries), it becomes a constant irritant/nightmare (or anywhere in between, depending on your situation) to keep up the other rats in the race to survive. Germany's runaway inflation in the 1930's is a classic example.
Money is not the root of all evil, but how you choose to get it and how you choose to use it can be a propellant towards greater or less satisfaction in life. Choose wisely.
It would be interesting to have an American Gross National Happiness Index based on the same parameters as Butan.
Hello Jeremy,

Najam,
For #1 and #2 you'll have to contact a broker for this info.
#3 - You don't need anything special on your computer to run our website.
Best,
Jeremy
Hello Jeremy,
What broker do i need to contact to answer my 1st & 2nd question?
Najam
Yes, little children, there IS an Himalayan Happiness Index. There is not, but should be, an Ignorance Index, calculated by taking the availability of information and multiplying it by the resistance (in this case measures in Oms, heh heh) of the subject to doing his homework. (Needless to say, the Ignorance Index of al-TEAda operatives and their puppetmasters is rather high, but I know you guys can do a lot better. )The terms you so flippantly blow off without a further twinkle of cogitation are (a) real, and (b) pertinent. But parading your Know-Nothing attitude as if you were really proud of it simply serves to undermine you're readers' confidence in the trustworthiness of your own prognosticative abilities. Wake up and crack a book once in a while; make a good faith effort to understand what Mr. Bernanke (not to mention the goddess Ananke) are saying. There really is some useful information that you are dismissing out of hand, and in the old days we would have called that an intellectual sin. Of course, as a famous country-Western singer once said, "Sinners can be forgiven; but stupid that is forever." If you must look like one or the other, best to chose the one than can be redeemed by a little humility and some honest remedial work.
It may be that psychological dissolution is the metaphysical equivalent for the mind that liquefaction necrosis is for the physical brain.
